During that time, he has had thousands of images published in magazines, calendars, books, and advertising campaigns from coast to coast. Regular corporate clients include Patagonia, Orvis, and Costa Del Mar. Publications include Outside, Backpacker, Rock and Ice, National Parks, as well as scores of other national and regional magazines. His first book, South Carolina Wonder and Light, was published in 2006 by Mountain Trail Press and he is currently shooting for two additional book projects at the moment. He writes a monthly column for South Carolina magazine and serves as the editor-in-chief for the popular Nature Photographers Online Magazine. In 2007, Richard successfully crossed the state of South Carolina in an open canoe to help raise awareness of the environmental and historical significance of the South Carolina places not accessible by roads and highways. The 21-day, 270-mile expedition was filmed for South Carolina Educational Television and was followed real-time by thousands of viewers online via SCETV's Riverventure Journal.
